Susan Carpenter was born and raised in the nearby suburbs of Philadelphia. She received her Bachelor's Degree from Penn State University in 1973. Ms. Carpenter then embarked upon a career spanning over 25 years in the private banking sector, where she served as a financial planning and asset manager for Merrill Lynch and Payne Webber/UBS. Seeking to utilize her background and experience in a more service oriented and personalized arena, Ms. Carpenter obtained her Juris Doctor degree from Rutgers School of Law in 2007. During her tenure as a law student, Ms. Carpenter served as an intern/clerk to the Honorable Joel B. Rosen, a Federal District Court Judge for the District of New Jersey. Ms. Carpenter also worked for the Legal Department of the National Association of Securities Dealers, in securities enforcement. Ms. Carpenter then joined the law firm of Puff & Cockerill, LLC, as a law clerk. Upon her graduation from Rutgers Law School, Ms. Carpenter was admitted to the bar, and invited to join the firm as an Attorney in the Wills, Trusts and Estates department. Ms. Carpenter's substantial experience in financial planning and administration provides a unique advantage to her clients. During her years in practice, Ms. Carpenter has specialized in the area of Estate Litigation. Undue influence (where there are suspicions that a will is the product of another's inappropriate influence), diminished capacity (where there are suspicions that a will was executed when the individual writing the will was incapable of knowing what they were doing), forgery, and fraud are frequently the issues at stake. Educating the public about the importance of estate planning essentials (wills, powers of attorney, living wills) and the interplay between those documents and IRA's, 401(k)'s and insurance and/or annuities has been an on- going mission for Ms. Carpenter. Her clear and consistent message is that unless the documents are well drafted and well executed, and unless the testator understands the interaction between the various documents, the testator's intentions may never be realized. Ms. Carpenter currently resides in Camden County. She is an active member of the Gloucester County and Camden County Bar Associations. She is currently serving as a board member of the Gloucester County Bar Foundation, and is an active member of the Gloucester County Chamber of Commerce. |
